Music is my passion - that’s why I’ve devoted my life to being a performer, composer, scholar, and teacher.

I believe that a full appreciation of music requires more than simply being able to play the right notes; it’s about understanding why those notes can seem to conjure emotion out of thin air.

My background as a composer, pianist, and musicologist has granted me three drastically different perspectives from which to understand music. I can compose like a performer, perform like a historian, and have published scholarly work based on my own performance practice.

I find that students learn and appreciate music best when I give them a holistic music education, encompassing proper performance technique, the music theory guiding the notes behind the scenes, and the lives and stories that influenced and shaped the music itself.
